Jim Bruskewitz. Born May 29, 1952. Citizen of the U.S.A. Gold medallist, 45-49, 1999 ITU World Triathlon Championship. BS, MS, Zoology, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Resides in Madison, lecturer in kinesiology at U of Wisconsin, on-line triathlon coach (ep@home.com). From a family of swimmers; Jim was 50-meter free champ in high school, while older brother Bob is an age-group record holder. Took up triathlon in 1986, has since won three national titles and qualified for seven national teams. Everything came together for him in Montreal, "a combination . . .that I'd dreamed of for a long time". Wife Katherine Noonan is city attorney in Madison, while 18-year-old son Nick was Academic All-State in cross-country and eight-year-old daughter Maggie "does whatever she sets her mind to". Loves Italian food: "pasta with a homemade tomato sauce and regianno is tough to beat as an everyday meal". Eclectic music tastes run from Yo Yo Ma to the Rolling Stones. Most embarrassing moment was panicking during the swim at a local triathlon and barely finishing the race.
