Susan Bradley-Cox. Born November 9, 1937. Citizen of the U.S.A. Seven-time gold medallist at the ITU World Triathlon Championships, including 60-64 in both 1999 and 2000. BA, MA, University of Kentucky, psychology and guidance counseling. Resident of Lexington, Kentucky. Widow, three grown children, three grandchildren. Fitness instructor, developing unique water aerobics program for seniors. Head coach, masters swim team. Long-time national class masters swimmer. Did first triathlon in 1983; didn't know how to shift borrowed bike, so rode the entire 40k course in same gear. Won the overall women's title anyway and was hooked. Eight times national champion, twice voted USAT's Grandmaster of the Year; most memorable race, however, was a 12:05 in the only Hawaiian Ironman she ever did (1986). Favorite foods are baked potatoes and peanut butter (hopefully, not together). Plays tennis in local USTA leagues. If she could talk with anyone in history, she'd pick Gertrude Caroline Ederle, the first woman to swim the English Channel.
