ETU Prestige Triathlon, Echternach

For immediate release: After a 15 minutes start delay due to a storm the races was started. In the middle of the swim a group of athletes included Kent Horner, Dirk Bockel, Igor Sissoev and Andreas Raelert. The four of them emerged the first to get on the bike course. The sun came out early into the bike race and blessed the athletes with excellent racing weather and dried the roads very quickly. Andreas Raelert and Dirk Bockel managed to get away from a rather big group let by Reinaldo Colucci escape to join up with the leading duo after the transition. Andrew Jones managed to catch up to the leading three thanks to a tremendous effort on the running course. The race was decided during the run where Andreas Raelert managed to stay on top while Reinaldo Colucci and Andrew Johns took the second and third spot. Dirk Bockel and Claude Eksteen finished in top 5.

The women’s race started with a tremendous swimming effort by Elizabeth May who lead supremely throughout the swim to exit the water ahead of Tanja Slater and Melissa Trims. The bike segment allowed the pursuers to catch up and the bike race ended with four athletes getting into the transition area. Finally during the running stage,the podiums were decided and resulted in the final podium of: Samantha Warriner, Marina Damlancourt, Mike Suys and Tanja Slater, Elizabeth May in 4^th and 5th.
