Saunders, Tim Don Win ITU International Event at Club

Finishing
16 seconds behind after the swim was the only time Trudi
Saunders, South Africa settled for anything less than
#1, as she charged through the field to finish an impressive
1:21 ahead of 2nd place Michelle Dillion and World Junior
Champion, Anneliese Heard, both of Great Britain, who
rounded out the podium.
The
event, which was also the South African National Championships,
took place on a 1 lap 1.5km swim course in chilly
16oC water. The one lap - 40km bike course was followed
by a 4 lap 10km run course.
In
the men's event, Tim Don, Great Britain exited the
water first in a time of 18:16, followed closely by
British team-mate Stuart Hayes and Grant Fillmore
of South Africa. Despite dropping behind slightly
during the bike, Tim took charge during the run, finishing
with the fastest run split, almost a full minute ahead
of Marc Jenkins also of Great Britain. Raynard Tissink
carried the hometown colours to finish in 3rd place.
