The inaugural 2003 Bakers Breakfast Cookie Bellingham ITU International Triathlon will be run on Sunday, June 1st from the banks of Lake Whatcom. This year’s event will host an ITU International Points Race as part of the new Race to Athens Triathlon Series across the United States. This event will also serve as one of only two Triathlons in the country to host a Pan American qualifier for the upcoming Pan American Games. Meter Swim Course & Transition Area
Elite swimmers will enter the water
with the elite women entering Lake Whatcom at 10:30am and the elite men starting
at 1:00pm. Swimmers will enter the swim course in Lake Whatcom at the beach
front located at the Bloedel Donovan Park. Competitors will swim 1,500 meters in Lake Whatcom in a rectangular
designed swim course and exit the water at the boat ramp. Once out of the water, athletes will run a
short distance to the transition area located in the parking lots of Bloedel
Donovan Park.

Cycling Course – Pan American Qualifier/Elite Race
The 40 kilometer cycling course will be run on local roads in and around the community of Bellingham and Lake Whatcom. (Please see the map below)

Run Course – Pan American Qualifier/Elite Event
The 6.2 mile final segment of the elite event will have runners exiting the parking lots of Bloedel Donovan Park and running in the bike lane on Electric Street then turning left onto Flynn Street. Competitors will follow Flynn Street to Euclid Street and make the u-turn at Euclid Street & Lakeway Drive. Once the u-turn is made competitors will head back to Bloedel Donovan Park and begin the second loop on the same course. (See map below)

The 2003 Bakers Breakfast Cookie Bellingham ITU International Triathlon Elite event will finish in the parking lot in front of the community center at Bloedel Donovan Park. This finish gives the elite athletes the opportunity to finish near the community center which will host the post event press conference and media center.
