Austrians dominate at the ITU Points Race, Langebaan, South Africa

Norbert Domnik & Eva Bramböck from Austria won their respective elite races at the ITU Points Race, in South Africa on 24 January 2004.

Kate Roberts from South Africa, exited the water in 1st place, with Eva Bramböck and Tania Haiböck from Austria shortly behind.

Kate and Tania worked well together in the lead, but was caught by the chase pack about half way through the bike split. On the run Eva pulled away sufficiently to secure her first place by more than a minute.

In the men’s race, Henk Markgraaff from South Africa exited the water first, followed by Wayne Rice (South Africa) and Jan Fredeno (Germany). Norbert Domnik and Conrad Stoltz exited the water a minute off the pace.

Norbert worked with Conrad in the 2nd bike bunch to catch the leaders in the last few kilometers of the race. Norbert pulled away on the run with not much of a lead, but managed to keep it till the finish.
