The
newly established national program, under the direction
and guidance of former triathlon and duathlon world
champion Jackie Gallagher, will initially include
four male and four female members. Additional male
and female members will be included during the national
season.
In
announcing the Squad, AIS Head Coach Jackie Gallagher
said, "The AIS provides the perfect catalyst in uniting
Australia’s young talent and a recognised national
development structure".
Gallagher
went on to expressed much confidence in the new Squad
"This is a young, talented and very enthusiastic
group of juniors, I believe they will go a long way
in maintaining Australia’s high level of achievement
at the International level."
The
following members, all from the state of Queensland,
have been named as the first scholarship holders in
the AIS Junior Elite Triathlon Squad:
