The
event will feature an elite race for triathletes eligible
to compete for their country and pursue ITU ranking
points. Only athletes of the Americas will be eligible
for the ITU ranking points. A prize purse of US$25,000
has been created for the elite race, and ITU points
will be valued at double of an international points
race. Additionally, the age group championship race
will also take place on the 8th. The Pan American
Championships will feature the Triathlon distance
of 1.5K-swim; 40K-bike; and 10K run. The elite race
will be draft legal, and the age group race will be
draft illegal. The age group Pan American Championship
will begin at 7:30 AM. The elite Pan American Championship
will get underway at 11:15 AM.
All
elite athletes from the Americas are invited to participate
in the elite championship; twelve athletes per gender
and per age group per country will be permitted in
the age group championship. Contact your triathlon
national federation for entry information.
