the ITU Competition Rules - Section B.2 Eligibility:
World Championships;
To
qualify for the elite wave at the ITU World Championships,
Athletes must . . .
Place
in the top three at any of the following ITU Regional
Qualifying Events* while competing as a member of
a National Federation within the relevant region.
Should any of the top three finishers at an ITU Regional
Qualifier have qualified by being ranked in the top
50 (14 days prior to the date of the World Championships),
the qualification shall automatically be assigned
to the next ranked athletes on the ITU World Ranking
until such time as three athletes qualify.
· ITU African Championships
· ITU Asian Championships
· ITU European Championships
· ITU Pan-American Championships
· ITU Oceania Championships
*or
otherwise assigned regional qualifying event.
