  The countdown is on - we are now just days away from the start of the many activities surrounding the 2004 ITU World Championship.
  
• The Olympic Connection in Madeira
  With the Athens Olympic Games rapidly approaching, every ITU World Cup event is cause for speculation about who has the potential to become the next Olympic Champion. However, the 2004 Madeira ITU World Championships is the event with the greatest potential to predict who may preform well in Athens.
• On this Weekend - ITU San Andreas International Triathlon - Columbia
  Nancy Alvarez (ARG) the top ranked woman in the event, 29th in last weekend's Mazatlan World Cup, will be looking to best home country favourites Fiorella D'croz and Carmenza Morales. Carmenza was the winner of the event last year.

  All National Federation Presidents travelling to Madeira for the World Championships must inform the organizing committee prior to April 27, 2004 to ensure appropriate accreditation is received.

• Mazatlan World Cup On This Weekend - Start list packed with Olympic Bound Athletes
  The second ITU World Cup of the season is on this weekend in Mazatlan, Mexico; Sunday, April 25. All will be looking to prove they are in top form, just two weekends out from the Triathlon World Championships and only a few months out from the Olympic Games.
  
• Lindquist & Whitfield Win in Honolulu; Lindquist & Kemper are Olympic Bound
  With 15 mile per hour trade winds and the sun blazing the women took to the Pacific Ocean in Honolulu for the start of the ITU Honolulu International Triathlon. A spot on the American Olympic team was on the line for the winner of both the men’s and women’s events.
• Fernandez and Henning Win Olympic Spot and European Champion Title
  28 European countries gathered in the Mediterranean resort of Valencia for the 2004 ITU Regional Triathlon Championships.
  
• Small States of Europe ITU International Triathlon
  With ideal weather conditions in Cyprus for last weekend's small states of Europe Triathlon Championships; the titles for both the men's and the women's events went to Luxembourg

• Small States of Europe ITU International Triathlon - Sunday, April 18

  The deadline for Aquathlon Registration is the April 15th, 2004 - a minimum of 200 athlete registrations are required by this date to ensure the Aquathlon goes ahead.
  
• Airline Bike Transportation
  When booking your airline ticket through TAP Air Portugal, the event airline partner - it is essential that all athletes mention they are traveling with a bike to their travel agent or to the airline.

• Aquathlon World Championships
  In addition to the title of Triathlon World Champion, athletes will also be competing in Madeira for the title of title of 2004 Aquathlon World Champion. All are encouraged to sign up for this unique run-swim-run event consisting of a 2.5 km run, 1 km swim and a final 2.5 km run.

• Asian Regional Championships - Subic Bay, Phillipines; April 3 - 4
  The Asian Regional Championships are the next big event on the ITU Schedule. Subic Bay, Phillipines is playing host to the Championships and Brian Mahoney, part of ITU's Live Event Coverage Team, has already posted some incredible photos from the event site on www.triathlon.org.
  
• USAT Presentation to AAHPERD Focuses on Getting Multi-Sport into Schools
  Members of the Educational Resource Program, an initiative of the USA Triathlon Age Group Commission, will be presenting "Mission Possible in Multi-Sport" at the annual convention of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD)
  
• Gergely Markus, ATHOC Triathlon Competition Manager, Takes Part in the Olympic Torch Relay
  Several weeks ago I received the news, that I was selected for this honorable event. The relay this year has some special differences. This is the first time that the flame will both start and finish in Greece - but in it's journey it will also touch all the five continents - including the previous Olympic cities.
