ITU News Update - 31May, 2004

  1. Thank you to the Geel World Championship Duathlon Team! A huge thank you to the Geel ITU Duathlon World Championships Team for a very successful ITU Duathlon World Championships
  2. IOC Olympic Solidarity Camp, Edmonton, Canada - JULY 4 - 12, 2004 There has been an overwhelming response to the ITU Olympic Solidarity Camp in Edmonton, July 4th to 12th. The camp, originally capped at 60 athletes, has had to increase its capacity to 80 athletes. There are athletes from fifteen countries registered.
  3. Race Triathlon Canada's ITU Circuit; Invitation to all athletes to Race Canada's Three-in-a-Row-in-July' Athletes are encouraged to compete in Canada's ITU race series. The series is kicked off with the Edmonton ITU Solidarity camp (July 4 to July 12) and Edmonton ITU World Cup and Canadian Olympic Qualifier, July 11.

    The Asian Youth Triathlon Camp 2004 will take place from June 14 - 20, 2004 at Subic Bay Freeport, Luzon, Philippines.

    A huge thank you to the Madeira World Championship Event Organizing committee, led by Lourenzo Viveiros. The event was enjoyed by athletes, spectators and the more than 50, 000 people who watched the live coverage on www.triathlon.org.
  2. 2004 ITU Long Distance Triathlon Tour
    ITU is pleased to announce the 2004 ITU Long Distance Triathlon Ranking Series
  3. IOC Commission Expresses Renewed Confidence that Athens will be Ready
    After three days of productive meetings in Athens, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission today confirmed its renewed confidence that the remaining venues to be completed for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games will be ready on time, and that Athens will host successful Games from 13 to 29 August.
  4. Olympic Qualification
    The Olympic Qualification period closed after the highly successful 2004 Madeira ITU World Championships last Sunday. Following the event Enrique Quesada, ITU Rankings Manager went to work to finalise the World Rankings and the allocation of Olympic spots. The entire process was reviewed by Enrique’s able assistant Jorge Garcia, with the support of ITU Technical Director Leslie Buchanan.

  1. 2004 ITU World Aquathlon Championship & This Weekend's Madeira Triathlon World Championship
    Shane Reed (NZL) has claimed his second Aquathlon World Championship title today in Madeira, Portugal while Samantha Warriner (NZL) claimed her first title in the run - swim - run event that precedes the ITU Triathlon World Championships.
  2. 100 days to go to the Games: Athens for the Athletes
    One hundred days before the Opening Ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games to be held in Athens, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr Jacques Rogge, and the President of the ATHENS 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, Mrs Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, made the following statements:
  3. Pan-American Duathlon Championship 2004
    San Cristobal in the State of Tachira, Venezuela, will host the 2004 Pan-American Duathlon Championship. The event will take place on the 3 and 4 of July, 2004
  4. South American Triathlon Championship 2004
    The 2004 South American Triathlon Championship will be held on July 18th in the city of Brasilia, Brazil.
  5. 2004 Pan-American Aquathlon Championship
    The 2004 Pan American Aquathlon championship will take place on July 16th, 2004 in Brasilia, Brazil on the South Lake of Brasília.
