MEDIA CENTRE The Media Centre is located at the Millhouse, Millbrook Resort, Arrowtown (to the right of the resort reception). This is approximately 200m from the finish line. Millbrook is approximately 20kms from Queenstown. It is open from Wednesday 3 December at 10am. It has some high speed ADSL lines for photographers, as well as dial-up lines for laptop computers. There is one computer with internet access for sourcing information. It is not available for media use to write copy. Media must provide their own laptops. The Media Centre will have access to the live results on both age-group day and elite day. There will also be a big screen to view the elite men’s and women’s races live. MEDIA ACCREDITATION Media accreditation is available at the Registration Centre, Memorial Hall, Queenstown from 10am until 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is the site of the Expo and registration for athletes and officials also. Accreditation on Friday is ONLY available from the Media Centre, Mill House, Millbrook Resort, Arrowtown. Accreditation must be uplifted by 2pm on Friday. 3. MANDATORY MEDIA BRIEFING – COURSE TOUR There is a mandatory media briefing on Friday 5 December. It incorporates a special afternoon of activity including an internationally famous Queenstown tourist venture, followed by the course tour and briefing and completed with a media function hosted by Tourism New Zealand and Air New Zealand. The activities start at 3pm on Friday 5 December with the bus leaving from the Expo, Memorial Hall. Much of the briefing will take place on the bus, and therefore you will need to attend. The media function begins at 5pm at a winery near Lake Hayes. Transport will return you to Queenstown. We can arrange earlier return if required from the function. 4. OFFICIAL MEDIA CONFERENCE: The official ITU Elite Athlete Conference will take place on Friday 5 December at the Copthorne Hotel, Queenstown at 11am. Athletes invited include: Men: Greg Bennett, (Australia), Current World No 1 ranked Andrew Johns, (Great Britain), Current World No 3 ranked Simon Whitfield, (Canada), Olympic-Commonwealth Champion Ivan Rana, (Spain), Current ITU World Champion Women: Barb Lindquist, (USA), Current World No 1 ranked Michelle Jones, (Australia), Two-time ITU World Champion Jill Savege, (Canada), Current World No 4 ranked Leanda Cave, (Great Britain), Current ITU World champion 5. OFFICIAL NEW ZEALAND MEDIA CONFERENCE: The New Zealand Elite team will hold a media conference on Thursday 4 December at the Copthorne Hotel, Queenstown at 2pm. The entire elite male and female team will be in attendance. They will be available for one-on-one interviews following the conference. The New Zealand team management wanted to convey that this will be the final opportunity for media to interview for members of the team at Queenstown.
