ITU
Gamagori World Cup Hosts Multiple World Champions
The
start list of the ITU Gamagori World Cup includes
the names of many of the best Triathletes in the world.
Current World Champions Siri Lindley (USA) and Peter
Robertson (AUS) will be racing in Gamagori, Japan
on June 9th. Athletes with World Championships titles
who also will be on the line include Aussies Emma
Carney, Loretta Harrop, and Nicole Hackett. Former
World Champion Dimitry Gaag (KAZ) will be there too.
Olympic Champion Brigitte McMahon will race for Switzerland.
Kiyomi
Niwata, Machiko Nakanishi and Akiko Sekine lead a
strong group of Japanese competitors. On the men's
side, Hiroyuki Nishiuchi, Junichi Yamamoto and Ryosuke
Yamamoto are amongst a long list of Japanese challengers.
The
results of the ITU Gamagori World Cup could see many
spots change at the top of the ITU World Ranking as
#2 Peter Robertson and #3 Hamish Carter (NZL) are
only separated by a mere 10 points. Eight of the top
ten World Ranked women will be competing on Sunday
so the stakes are especially high.
Action
starts at 12:00 noon on Sunday 9 June in the famous
Gamagori Stadium where an estimated crowd of 45,000
will cheer on the athletes over the 2 lap 1.5km swim,
8 lap 40 km bike and 3 lap 10 km run.
Live
coverage of the entire event will begin on www.triathlon.org
at 11:30 a.m. local time. Stay tuned to the ITU website:
