World Cup Set to Begin in St. Anthony’s, Florida
The stage is set for the St. Anthony’s ITU Triathlon World Cup, where
the clear water’s of Tampa Bay are about to host a new level of triathlon action. The event, now in it’s 20th year,
is hoping for one of the best-ever races with a phenomenal field of
athletes.
In the women’s event World Ranked # 1, Barb Lindquist (USA) is fresh off
a World Cup win in Ishigaki, Japan two weekends ago. Barb has to be excited about competing in front of her home
country fans. Last year’s winner on the St. Anthony’s course, Michellie Jones
(AUS), will also be looking for another win and will face stiff competition
from team mate Loretta Harrop,
currently ranked 3rd in the world.
Laura Reback (USA), currently ranked 5th in the world, will
be another crowd favorite looking to climb to new heights in the ITU rankings.
On the men’s side, Chris Hill (AUS), World Ranked # 1 and Greg Bennett
(AUS), World Ranked # 2, wowed the Japanese fans two weekends ago with a battle
for the finish line in Ishigaki. Both
will be back on the start line in Florida and the picturesque neighborhoods of
St. Anthony’s will pale in comparison to the heated competition for the top of
the ITU rankings provided by these two amazing athletes. 13 of the current ranked top 20 men will be
racing in St. Anthony’s, including reigning World Champion, Ivan Rana of
Spain. The complete start lists
includes athletes from almost 30 countries.
